Incy Wincy Challenge - Pink and Brown

This week at Incy Wincy the challenge is to use Pink and Brown. Our sponsor is Di's Digi Downloads who will be awarding the winner 5 digis of their choice. For my card I used "A Time to Celebrate."

I colored my bears with Copics and added lots of stickles and glossy accents. I added ribbon, flowers, gems, and a button for embellishments. I also used a border punch and embossed one of the background papers.

Winter Fun

I decided since it is still in the 90's here in Arizona, I would color a nice winter scence to cool things down :) CJ of Cowgirls Stampen Ranch had the perfect image for my project. "Frosty" can be purchased here along with a wide variety of other stamps. Currently at Cowgirls Sunday Stampen Challenge the challenge is girly girl. Starting Sunday, the 17th, the challenge will be sponsored by Michelle Perkett and it will be a sketch challenge and make your own background papers. For "Frosty" I colored him with Copics and then added lots of stickles to make the snow shimmer like diamonds. I embossed the white sparkly paper with my Cuttlebug Divine Swirls folder.

Incy Wincy Challenge - Faux it Up

This week Incy Wincy is challenging you to "faux it up." You can do faux leather, marble, stitching, anything you can think of. Incy Wincy is sponsoring this challenge, so the lucky winner will receive a $10 gift voucher to the ATTCC store.

My image is "Chelsea" by Inger Harding. I colored Chelsea using Copics, adding a little stickles and some gold Atyou Spica pen. I used a variety of techniques in this card. I did faux stitching using a white Inkssentials pen. I punched one butterfly and used the Cricut for the other one. I added brown distress stickles and gold stickles to spice them up. I embossed one of the patterned papers with the Cuttlebug "Birds and Swirls" folder to add some more texture. The wide ribbon was discovered in a dollar store. It is just so pretty and adds another dimension and texture. Then, of course, lots of bling to make Chelsea a really special girl.

This week Stamp, Scrap, and Doodle Saturdays (SSDS) is joining some of the other challenge blogs in helping get cards to our soldiers through the efforts of Operation Write Home (OWH). Here is a little bit about OWH:

"OWH supports our nation's armed forces by sending blank handmade greeting cards to write home on, as well as cards of gratitude to encourage them. Our 'birthday' (anniversary of our official registration as an org) is Sept 12th — but we're stretching the party to last all month!

Operation Write Home began in 2007 with just a few cards made by friends on a message board; what began as an outlet for a hobby has become a much larger mission to help heroes keep in touch with home - and the effort has been joined by thousands of cardmakers!"

Autumn Pony

I just love this image. It reminds me of when I was a child and used to ride the old-fashioned carousels at amusement parks. There was one we used to go to that had the old WOODEN roller coasters. Wow! Can you remember those? The amusement park also had a huge carousel with all different colored horses. Those were the days.

Good Morning everyone! Another week has passed, and it is time for a new challenge at Stamp, Scrap, and Doodle Saturdays (SSDS). This week we challenge you to make thank you cards. My thank you card is colored using Copics, and the sentiment is stamped with distress ink. The white panel is a layer of beautiful lace....not paper. Put on Your Red Shoes and ........

When I saw this week's I Copic Lover Color challenge of using red, pink, and white, I thought "ugh...Valentine's Day!" However, then I saw all the challenges for vintage and pearls and lace, and I thought, "maybe I can pull something off that doesn't look like Valentine's Day." So I pulled out my new Magnolia stamp and colored her with R29, R24, R20, RV34, RV32 , C1, Y11, Y13, Y15, E00, E11, and E35. I then brushed over her dress with red shimmer chalks (hard to see in picture). I added stickles to part of her dress and to her tiara. I covered her shoes with glossy accents to give them a patent leather look.

I used K&C papers and distressed them with Tim Holtz Victorian Velvet ink. I used my nesties to cut out my image and sentiment and distressed them also. I also embossed my extra oval with my Cuttlebug. I added lace with pearls, 2 pins with pearls and rhinestones, flowers, and more pearls and rhinestones, and finished it off with a hearts with wings charm. I feel in the end I achieved a vintage feel rather than a Valentine's Day look....what do you think?

WOW! Do I have alot to tell you!! Can you believe I am now a part of the Cowgirl Up Posse for the Cowgirl-Up Sunday Stamp'en Challenge!? Yee-Haw!!!! Yep!! I am truly honored to have been selected to be on the Design Team...and how much fun....my first challenge also includes a Blog Hop......so, let's see what else is happening...

Our Challenge this week is to make your own flowers and apply them to your project. For my flowers, I punched out the 4 smallest ones, colored them with Copics so that they would match my card, and then added platinum stickles to the center. For the medium size flower I cut out various sizes using Cricut's Graphically Speaking cartridge, also colored with Copics, layered them using dimensionals, and again added stickles...large flower also cut using Cricut.

My image is one of CJ's new releases called "Butterfly Ride." You can get her at Cowgirl Up Designs. Isn't she fantastic!? Of course, she is colored with Copics! Which, by the way, I am in the class today to become Copic Certified....Yee-Haw!!!!!!!!!!!

First, I was only allowed to use red, yellow, and blue (except for skin) for the I Copic Lover Color Challenge. Next, I followed the sketch at Creative Inspirations. Vintage Carousel Horse

I remember a carousel horse like this from when I was a little girl. How I would love to ride it and pretend that I was riding a real horse as I went around and around. This beautiful digi image is by Digi Doodle Shop. The detail is amazing! I colored it with my Copics. I used pastel blues and pinks and followed the sketch from Moving Along with the Times, although I rotated the sketch. I used my new Tim Holtz paper and Coordinations. I love the new Tim Holtz paper. Note the music notes on it to correspond to the music of a carousel. I distressed the edges using the Tim Holtz distresser and tore around my image to distress and added lots of lace and pearls and flowers to give it an overall vintage feel and look. I hope you like it.

For my project I used this cute image provided by InStyle called "Ava Combing Hair." I wanted to create a Christmas card, so I perused my Christmas stacks for some elegant Christmas paper, as I wanted this to appear as Ava getting ready for a Christmas party. I colored her with copcis and used gold stickles on her wings. I distressed the edge and image using the Tim Holtz distressing tool as well as TH distress inks. I embossed the bottom panel using the Cuttlebug textile folder. This card is being entered in the following challenges:

Summer Lovin' Cardinal

Hi. Geesh, it is so hot here! Too hot to go outside, so good time to stay inside and explore some more with my new copics. Today I decided I really wanted to be able to enter the Copic Creations challenge, so I took down my wood-mounted cardinal stamp by Carolyn Shores Wright. I have tried to use this stamp before but I was overwhelmed with how to color it. No medium seemed to do the stamp justice...that's because I didn't know about copics yet! I have so much to learn with how to use the copics. I really want to take the certification class and am hoping it will come to Arizona soon and that I will hear about it! Anyway, I don't have too many colors yet in copics, but I tried to use what I have to color this stamp. I have a loooong way to go, but I am pleased with my first attempt at coloring this cardinal. I would appreciate your thoughts and comments.

For this card I combined using a rubber stamp (the little girl playing with the butterflies...don't know designer), a digi stamp (the picnic basket from Sugar Creek Hollow), a punch (little butterfly on flower), and die cuts (2 butterflies from Cricut Paper Pups and sun from Cricut Graphically Speaking). I colored with copics and added glitter with copics glitter pen and stickles.

Prize Package!

This week at SSDS we are challenging you to create a card in a shape other than a square or rectangle. Our sponsor this week is Paper Craftin' with Erica. This is our very own DT member, Erica, who is an independent demonstrator for The Angel Company. Erica is giving away the great Angel Company prize package shown above! For my card, I decided to create a heart shaped card cut using the Cricut Wild Card cartridge. I then stamped it with leaves using white pigment ink. After that I stamped this adorable stamp by The Angel Company, which I then colored with my copics. I cut it out, and I separately colored, cut, and layered the banner separately for a little added dimension. After adding the flowers, I decided to add the fiber to border the perimeter of the heart. Patriotic Soldier Boy

This card was inspired by all of the stars and stripes/Patriotic challenges this week. The sketch is this week's Paper Craft's challenge. I started with a blank card and stamped it with gold stars using an old Stampendous wood stamp and ColorBox gold pigment ink. I next layered it with navy blue striped designer paper. One piece I also stamped with the gold stars, and the other I punched out in a circle and embossed using my Cuttlebug script folder. The next layer is a strip of red Colorbok paper followed by the flag which was cut from a piece of Paper Love Designs dp. Next I cut an oval out of gold metallic paper using my nestabilities. I then used Stamping Boutique's soldier digi image and colored him with Copics and then cut him out and popped him up using dimensionals. I finalized it by adding these two cool blue and white buttons.

I just won this adorable Cuddly Bubbly Baby Fairy stamp and decided to make a bright and summery card appropriate for little boys. Doesn't this card just ooze sunshine? These are a Few of My Favorite Things is having the most awesome challenge right now! There are 28 prizes!!! Really! I am not making this up. You have to go over and check it out! I had to chuckle though when I saw that the challenge was your favorite shoes. Well, I'm a shoe fanatic, and it's impossible for me to pick a favorite pair....I mean....A GIRL CAN NEVER HAVE TOO MANY SHOES! Right!!?? Good Afternoon, everyone! I hope you all are having a fantabulous day. As usual, it is very hot and sunny here today. Good day to enter some challenges. This card is actually only being entered in 10 challenges, as that is the limit for Paper Sundaes, and this card was inspired by their kraft and blue challenge. My layout is the sketch from KL Stampin' N Scrappin'. I wanted to go for a vintagey look (ABC Challenge), so I used these lovely papers from K&Company as well as kraft. The flowers are prima with brads in the center. The metal flower brads and metal swirl are from my stash. I used the Cuttlebug script embossing folder on the one layer. Did lots of layering by stamping my darling Hampton Art bird card stamp 4 times and cutting it out in pieces, so that in the end the bird stands alone on the edge of the bird cage with an extra birdie for the corner. The border punch is EK Success.

Tea Time

When I saw the challenge at The Shabby Tea Room I couldn't resist making a tea time card...how fun! The sketch I chose was Sketch Saturday. The 2 designer papers are K&Company. The green oval is Coordenations which I embossed with the Cuttlebug textile folder, then sanded, distressed the edges with the Tim Holtz distresser, and then ink distressed that. Minus the sanding and embossing, I did this distress process on all of the papers. The teapot and cup are cut using the Cricut Everyday Paper Dolls cartridge. The flowers are prima and the ribbon is 7 Gypsies. The border punch is Martha Stewart.

Hi, How is everyone this fine, sunny afternoon? I'm doing great! I just had so much fun making this card....and Yes, it is being entered into all of the challenges you see listed below! I think this is my record!!!

Maybe some of you wonder how I do this? Well, I figure today is a good day to tell you my secrets, lol... I have an Excel spreadsheet that has listed all the challenges that I am aware of. Everyday I get on the computer and log on to each of the challenges for that day and then update the spreadsheet with the new challenge of the week, if applicable...some are fortnightly or monthly. This gives me one place for me to have all of the challenges listed.

Today, I decided I wanted to make a card using as many possible challenges as possible. So I went through my spreadsheet and chose all of the challenges that I thought could possibly work together on one card. I need to decide on a theme and sketch first, so I chose my theme to be vintage with hot air balloons. I chose the sketch at Papertake Weekly. I then rummaged through my masses of paper to try and pick out just the right ones. After choosing papers, I went through my embellishments and ribbons and fabrics to see what I thought might just work. I decided on the 2 K&Company ones and the music one was in my stash drawer. I looked at stamps and digis, too, but I decided for this card I wanted to use the Cricut. I then laid out all the elements I had picked and went to work....lol...trust me, the above, is a lot of work. Putting the card together is the easy part, as most of you know.

For this card, I used the Cricut to cut the balloons, butterfly, and tag. The balloons are from Summer in Paris, the butterfly from Storybook, and the tag from Plantin Schoolbook. I embossed one of the patterned papers using Cuttlebug's Textile folder, but it is hard to tell in the photo. I distressed all of the paper with the Tim Holtz distresser and then ink distressed on top of that. I added an eyelet to my tag and the sentiment is handwritten. I love how so many people keep track of who made each embellishment. Mine are not so organzed, unfortunately, so I can't say who made each little embelli. Just for FYI, the pearl in the center of the flower is actually a brad. The little square of fabric is from K&Company. The corner punch and one of the border punches are Fiskars. The lace border punch is MS. Everything else is from my stash drawers.

Flutterings

Fussy and Fancy this week is challenging us to use 3 images, 3 types of embellishments, and 3 designer papers. Stampacular Sunday is challenging us to use pearls and swirls. I decided to take on these two challenges with this card, using the sketch at Our Creative Corner. I stamped the two swirly butterflies and the "flutter" with Versamark and then heat embossed them to give them a sparkly look (hard to see in photo). I layered my 3 designer papers (K&Company), two of which have swirls in them, and then added pearls, the ribbon with the bow, and two butterflies cut using the Cricut Stamping Solutions cartridge (my 3 types of embellishments). I added a little extra stickles to my butterflies and distressed the edges of my oval which was cut using my Spellbinders nestabilities and then popped up using dimensionals. I hope you enjoy.

Charming Roses

I used the Play Date Cafe's colors of pale yellow, light green, and pink to create this card. I started by decoupaging the rose. I stamped it with Versamark and then colored it with Pearl Ex. It is hard to see the shimmer in this picture. I layered the bud once and the rose 2 times. The stem is flat on the paper. I then added my butterfly and little pearls. These pieces are all on a pale yellow background embossed with the Textile CB folder. Below that are 2 patterned papers (one with spots) and a piece of lace with a charm hanging from it. The top of the card features 3 roses and leaves cut with the Martha Stewart branch punch.

Fairy with Flowers and Pearls

This card was especially inspired by the sketch at Simon Says, the petals and pearls challenge at Crafty Catz, and the lace challenge at Die Cut Dreams. This wonderful image is from Stamping Boutique, and I colored her with markers and then added lots of gitter pen to her wings and around her (doesn't show too well in the photo). For good measure I added the pearl into the center of her magical flower. I used a Martha Stewart lace punch and a lace ribbon with pearls for my two strips on the sketch. I created the center flower by taking two white flowers and inking them two different colors and then added the little yellow flower and the pearl. I added the Prima roses from my unused stash, and then topped it off with this lovely charm which is new but has been in my stash for a long time.

I was inspired by the Pollycraft sketch challenge this week to make this little boy's birthday card for a special young man. This Meljen's Design "Love is Sweet Bear" image is so much fun to work with. It is so cute that it makes you smile the entire time you are using it! I took a look at this week's challenges and decided to try and taylor the card to enter as many challenges as possible. As you can see, I managed to enter many! I decided to enter Colour Create's challenge of khaki, aqua, brown, and cream, which made me eligible for brown and blue challenges. I colored my image with markers and a dove blender and then added stickles. I used three designer papers. My "5's" were cut using the cricut and Plantin Schoolbook cartridge. My image from The Stamping Boutique is entitled "Help from a Friend." I'm a cardmaker and scrapbooker so this was a true challenge for me and made me think totally outside of the box, no pun intended. Yes, I could have made a scrapbook page, but I really did want to challenge myself. I started with a small cardboard box that was just in my junk and painted it with silver and purple acrylic paints. I then stamped the top of my box with a Friends stamp. Next I colored my image and then Modge Podged it on to the top of the box. It will never come off...lol.. I then colored and cut out four of the butterflies and Modge Podged them on each side of the box. Finally I made a matching tag using the same procedures.

Colour Q Buddies meet Get Sketchy

This week at Colour Q you are challenged to use these colors...but with a twist.

You must enter with a buddy to win. Well, that's easy, as my best friend, Kim C --Kraft-a-holic Kim , is also my crafting buddy. We took on this challenge with an additional challenge...the sketch at Get Sketchy.

It never ceases to amaze Kim and I how totally different our cards turn out to be. We had a lot of fun on this because we put a time limit on it, too...so these were kind of rush cards...

My card is layered with turquoise, and then the blue with the pawprints. These two layers have been punched with a corner punch to round the edges (Delightful Sketches and Challenges - pull out your punches).My "faux" ribbon is actually a sticker to meet the challenge at Practical Scrappers. The ribbon has the green on it, as well as one kitty's shirt. My curry cardstock and image are cut out using Nestabliites Labels No. 9 (Fab 'n Funky - fancy edges) and the curry is embossed with CB Swiss dots (Craft Your Passion -- embossing). I chose this adorable image from Digi Stamp Characters to represent buddies and also to meet the challenges at Stamp with Fun "friends," Alphabet Challenge and Lexis Creations and Allsorts and Aly's Sunday Challenge "animals " and A Spoon Full of Sugar "furry friends." This week at The Cuttlebug Spot they are challenging us to make a project with our favorite flower...and some embossing, of course. The flower on this card is my favorite flower to make. I find them very therapeutic and calming for some reason. OK...I'm nuts. Anyway, I made one of my favorite flowers and decided to go with simple elegance as it is a sympathy card. I embossed the shimmer silver with the Cuttlebug Victoria folder and added an embossed ribbon. Head on over to The Cuttlebug Spot and show them your favorite flowers.

I have some exciting news to share, and I'm not allowed to share it yet. Ugh! I hate that. So...I decided to flip through this week's challenges, and tackle some I haven't entered yet, and, of course, a few I have already entered...and take my mind off what I'm not supposed to tell you all yet.

Meljen's Designs wants something for "the little ones" so I made this cute little birthday card using an image from Pollycraft. I used the sketch layout from Friday Sketchers and purple and yellows from Craft Your Passion. Added some metallic paper and metal eyelets for One Stop Craft. I distressed every piece of paper with Tim Holtz dusty concord distress ink. Embossed the purple metallic with CB divine swirls, etc. Here are the rest of the challenges:

SSDS Week 37 - Girlie

When I was challenged with girlie, my brain went to SHOPPING....lol, so I made this card using the Cricut Wild Card cartridge for the purse and the sentiment. My layout was inspired by the sketch at Mojo Monday and for my colors, I decided to follow Incy Wincy's challenge of black, white, and one other color.....which I chose as pink...nice and girlie! Added some other girlie embellishments, and I was done.

I love reading through all of the challenges and then designing my card around them. The sketch challenge at Sketch Saturday started me off. As you can see, I rotated it. I next picked this adorable digi image from Digital Doodling and I wanted her to look springy (Pile it On). I was inspired by the photo at Hope Stamps Eternal, and decided to take on the pink and brown challenge at C.R.A.F.T., so I colored my image accordingly and distressed the edges. I also decided to do the no patterned paper at Paper Play. As such, I took a piece of pink Cooredinations card stock and tore it (Die Cut Dreams ) , distressed it further with inks (Crafty Creations, Prairie Fairy and Tellen's Place), and then embossed it using my Cuttlebug leafy branch. I next layered on my image, flowers (A Crafty Little Place, Digital Tuesday, and S2G), an embossed brown circle, and my sentiment. The pink and brown flowers are from a package I bought eons ago but never opened (Fab 'n Funky) and the pink flower I punched out and embossed with swiss dots. At Practical Scrappers they want you to try and use floss, so I threaded floss through my 3 buttons. Anything goes at Penny's Paper and Sew Many Cards, so I don't want to leave them out. This is a card for a special lady inspired by Pixie Cottage. It is definitely one for the girls (Magical Crafts and Townscrappers )....so phew! Those are the challenges that inspired this card. Crafty Ann's Challenge #13 - A Recipe

Well, believe it or not, another two weeks have passed and it is time for a new challenge at Crafty Ann's. This fortnight, Ann has created a recipe for us to follow. The recipe is as follows:

one main digi image,
a maximum of 3 colours (although you can use less),
one ribbon
three flowers (these can be digi too if you wish).

Pile it On is having a DT call. Their challenge this week is "spring." My goal was to go through all of the challenges that I am aware of and try to make a card that really "piled it on!" I started with the Moving Along with the Times sketch and the Creative Inspirations' challenge of 3 flowers, 2 dp, and 1 ribbon. I decided to make this card bright and cheery and sunny with butterflies and flowers to represent spring. I stamped my image with Versamark and heat embossed it with a bright glittery embossing powder. I next cut out my image and embossed it using a nestie and my CB. After it was cut out, I paper pierced it and then faux stitched it using a marker and glitter pen. I then layered it all together with the ribbon and added my flowers, bling, buttons, and a butterfly sticker. Finally I stamped on my encouraging sentiment....SMILE!

My hope is that PILE IT ON will see that I am up to the challenge of creating a card with a theme and then really piling on other challenges.

This card was truly inspired by ALL of these challenges, as they were all in my mind as I created the card.
