Happy Birthday for the Little Ones

I have some exciting news to share, and I'm not allowed to share it yet. Ugh! I hate that. So...I decided to flip through this week's challenges, and tackle some I haven't entered yet, and, of course, a few I have already entered...and take my mind off what I'm not supposed to tell you all yet.
Meljen's Designs wants something for "the little ones" so I made this cute little birthday card using an image from Pollycraft. I used the sketch layout from Friday Sketchers and purple and yellows from Craft Your Passion. Added some metallic paper and metal eyelets for One Stop Craft. I distressed every piece of paper with Tim Holtz dusty concord distress ink. Embossed the purple metallic with CB divine swirls, etc. Here are the rest of the challenges:

Tellen's Place - ink distressing
Penny's Paper - anything goes
Simon Says - things with wings
Cooking it Up with Katie - purple, use 3 of something (eyelets), use a digi

This week at Stamp, Scrap, and Doodle Saturdays we are challenging you to make a girlie project. Our sponsor this week is Sweet Pea Stamps and the lucky winner will receive Fantasy Plate 22 of their fabulous stamps shown below Sweet Pea Stamp's exotic logo.

When I was challenged with girlie, my brain went to SHOPPING....lol, so I made this card using the Cricut Wild Card cartridge for the purse and the sentiment. My layout was inspired by the sketch at Mojo Monday and for my colors, I decided to follow Incy Wincy's challenge of black, white, and one other color.....which I chose as pink...nice and girlie! Added some other girlie embellishments, and I was done.
Other Challenges for this card:

Just for You

I love reading through all of the challenges and then designing my card around them. The sketch challenge at Sketch Saturday started me off. As you can see, I rotated it. I next picked this adorable digi image from Digital Doodling and I wanted her to look springy (Pile it On). I was inspired by the photo at Hope Stamps Eternal, and decided to take on the pink and brown challenge at C.R.A.F.T., so I colored my image accordingly and distressed the edges. I also decided to do the no patterned paper at Paper Play. As such, I took a piece of pink Cooredinations card stock and tore it (Die Cut Dreams ) , distressed it further with inks (Crafty Creations, Prairie Fairy and Tellen's Place), and then embossed it using my Cuttlebug leafy branch. I next layered on my image, flowers (A Crafty Little Place, Digital Tuesday, and S2G), an embossed brown circle, and my sentiment. The pink and brown flowers are from a package I bought eons ago but never opened (Fab 'n Funky) and the pink flower I punched out and embossed with swiss dots. At Practical Scrappers they want you to try and use floss, so I threaded floss through my 3 buttons. Anything goes at Penny's Paper and Sew Many Cards, so I don't want to leave them out. This is a card for a special lady inspired by Pixie Cottage. It is definitely one for the girls (Magical Crafts and Townscrappers )....so phew! Those are the challenges that inspired this card. I hope you enjoyed it. Thanks for stoppping by today!

Pile it On!!!!!

Pile it On is having a DT call. Their challenge this week is "spring." My goal was to go through all of the challenges that I am aware of and try to make a card that really "piled it on!" I started with the Moving Along with the Times sketch and the Creative Inspirations' challenge of 3 flowers, 2 dp, and 1 ribbon. I decided to make this card bright and cheery and sunny with butterflies and flowers to represent spring. I stamped my image with Versamark and heat embossed it with a bright glittery embossing powder. I next cut out my image and embossed it using a nestie and my CB. After it was cut out, I paper pierced it and then faux stitched it using a marker and glitter pen. I then layered it all together with the ribbon and added my flowers, bling, buttons, and a butterfly sticker. Finally I stamped on my encouraging sentiment....SMILE!
My hope is that PILE IT ON will see that I am up to the challenge of creating a card with a theme and then really piling on other challenges.

This card was truly inspired by ALL of these challenges, as they were all in my mind as I created the card.

Pile it On - spring
Practical Scrappers - floss, fibers, ribbon
Little Red Wagon - dry embossing
Flutter by Wednesday - open with butterfly
Penny's Paper - anything goes

Prairie Fairy DT Call

Wow! I just saw this DT Call at Prairie Fairy, and I really would love to be on this team. I just adore this lovely fairy image that was given as a freebie to make a card for the Prairie Fairy DT Call. When I saw the flower she was holding I decided that she was a magical fairy and that all her flowers had lovely pearls in their centers. So I colored her with markers and then added stickles glitter to her wings and dress and hairband, so she would be as shimmery as possible. I then put glossy accents on her flower and added a pearl. I was following the Lili of the Valley sketch, so I decided I would make her 3 other matching flowers. I cut them from this great glitter paper using the Graphically Speaking cricut cartridge, and edged each petal with a highlighting blue marker. I then layered each flower with dimensionals and added the pearls to mach the fairy's flower. This card was inspired by many challenges as described below:
All Sorts - petals and pearls
- texture
Incy Wincy - magical
Kaboodle Doodles - digi girl
My Time to Craft - pearls
Penny's Place - anything goes
The Creative Cottage - wings
Creative Belli - die cut shapes - Cricut and nestie

Another White Space Challenge

I decided to take on another white space challenge at 365 cards. I was inspired by Pollycraft and Crafts and Me to use pink, brown, and yellow. My "white space" is brown, and on to it I layered a piece of yellow cardstock that I distressed using my Tim Holtz distresser. Next I stamped the big balloon using TH tattered rose distress ink and Cat's Eye soft brown ink and added some stickles. Then I cut out three different sized balloons using my Cricut Everyday Paper Dolls cartridge and covered them with glossy accents to give the appearance of real shiny balloons. I added a few bling, and I was done. Quick and simple card...which I made with the following challenges in mind.

Simple Doodles - inspire others
Bitten by the Bug 2 - stamp and cricut cut
Practical Scrappers and ABC Challenge - bling/glitter/sparkle
Penny's Paper - anything goes
Stampin' Royalty - keep it simple
Creative Belli - die cut shapes

Spring Challenge Blog Hop #1

Well I have been blog hopping and crafting all day long. Phew....I think I have a card and a layout that will encompass all 6 challenges....and more! First is this card...one of the challenge sites in the hop is 365 days and the challenge was a sketch using white space. Well, I certainly hope I have enough white space on this one. I cut an oval of shiny white paper using my Creative Memories cutting system and embossed it with tiny bubbles. I next put a piece of black rick rack cut on the Cricut with Plantin Schoolbook and then cut out the word DREAM and layered that on. The challenge at Pile it On (another blog hop site) was to use no images just words. I then just layered on a piece of black and pink polka dotted ribbon.
My next post will depict a layout I just completed which will cover the other four Spring Challenge Blog Hop challenges.

If the Shoe Fits.....Sew It???

This card was inspired by so many challenges that are currently out there! I don't have a clue where to start. Well, I'll start with the fact that I sewed something!! Yes, not faux stitching...real stitching!! You have no idea how huge this is. I never sew....ANYTHING! But...Crafty Cardmakers has "challenge yourself," so I did. I bought floss and needles and went at it. I'm just so proud of myself, lol. The sketch that inspired me is Crafty Catz. I took that sketch and the color challenge at Play Date Cafe (plum, lavender, cream) and the shoe challenges at Die Cut Dreams and Daring Cardmakers, and went at it! As I started picking out papers, I decided to go for a vintagey look (Creative Card Crew). I decided to also take on the challenge at Stamp with Fun of using 3 papers, 3 flowers, and 2 buttons. My background is not a paper, but stamped with a florish stamp and Tim Holtz milled lavender. I took all of the already mentioned challenges, and started thinking about what kind of shoe I wanted. After looking through my Cricut booklets, I found this fantastic shoe in Graphically Speaking. . I cut it out in the plum patterned foil paper and black so that I could make the heel a different color. I added two types of stickles to fancy-up my shoe. I stitched my border, layered everything, added a ribbon, bow, 2 buttons, and 3 flowers, and stamped "Just a Little Note" and the card just came together.
Other Challenges this card fits in to:
Pollycraft - anything goes
Flourishes Timeless - if you bought it, use it (flourish stamp)
Tellen's Place - all about me....I LOVE shoes!!!
The Creative Cottage - buttons and bows

One Stitch at a Time - anything goes

Birthdays Challenge at SSDS

This week at Stamp, Scrap, and Doodle Saturdays, we are challenging you to make a birthday card or gift. Our sponsor this week is Glitz Design, and they have been kind enough to give the DT papers and bling to play with. How fun are these colors!! I stamped the front of the card with a flourishes stamp and black and pink inks. I next cut out the pink paper using my Cricut to get the scalloped bottoms using the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge. I embossed this piece with Cuttlebug's divine swirls folder. On top of that I layered the three pieces of Glitz paper, and then embossed a glitter white paper with the CB tiny bubbles folder. I next stamped and heat embossed the Happy Birthday on the black layer. I added the ribbon and these awesome round bling pieces also from Glitz. So come on over to SSDS and join the fun. Crafty Ann's Challenge - Let the Sunshine In

This week I have the honor of being a guest designer at Crafty Ann's. When I heard the challenge was Let the Sunshine In, I immediately thought of bright sunny colors....yellow, orange, and red. Ann designed this wonderful digi flower which I printed and colored 3 times and cut them all out and curled the edges and then layered them with foam dimensionals to give it the appearance of a real flower. The flowers and leaves were colored with Martha Stewart markers and a dove blender. The middle of the flower I created using little beads and glossy accents to give the flower another texture. One of the layers of paper was punched with the Martha Stewart scallop punch...another was embossed with the Cuttlebug spots and dots folder. I added a couple of brads, some bling, and a sheer ribbon to finish it off. Ann is offering a prize of two digi stamps and one backing paper of choice for the lucky winner at Crafty Ann's ! So come on over and Let the Sunshine In!

I am entering this card into a few of other appropriate challenges:

Generations

I made this layout as a sketch requirement for Practical Scrappers, for whom I am applying for a DT position. This photo represents 3 generations of my family. I can't believe how young my Dad is in it. The photo must have been taken over 50 years ago! I used four K&Company designer papers and a K&Company tag to journal on. I cut the flourishes with the Cricut Home Decor cartridge. I colored and distressed the flourishes with Tim Holtz distress inks and distress glitter. The "Generations" Title is a sticker which I also distressed.
Challenges applicable to this layout:
add layers - Simple Doodles
Vintage/Aged - Creative Card Crew
Distressing (Tim Holtz) - Simon Says
Blessings (my family) - Rosie D's
just add ink - Just Add Ink

SSDS - Flights of Fancy Challenge

This week the challenge at Stamp, Scrap, and Doodle Saturdays is to make any winged creature....bird, fairy, angel, butterfly, anything at all that has wings.

In addition to the hummingbird, I added some rub-on bees. Also, my DP has hummingbirds on it. So, please get out your winged stamps, punches, die cuts, or other crafty winged items and come join the fun!

Other inspirational challenges:

Tuesday Taggers - bug (bees) - sponsor - The Craft Barn

Susie's Sassy - spring garden

Open/Anything Goes Challenges:

Moushka and Sancho

Well, you've met Lexy, my lovable lab....Now it's on to my two kitties, Moushka and Sancho. Moushka is the matriarch of the family. She is 10 years old and runs the show. She is MY cat... sleeps on my lap, in my arms in bed...well you get the picuture. I actually have my left arm on her right now as I try to type, lol...But when she wants something she really lets you know it. Her favorite thing is to knock items off of my nightstand until she has gotten my attention....this usually occurs during the middle of the night, of course. Her brother is Sancho, and he's just a big boy. who is about 4. He loves to play and will amuse himself with a jingle ball batting it around the house for hours. He's a lover, too, though. As you can see in the picture, they both like to be near Mom. This pose they are in inspired me to make the card. Moushka is the black one who's kind of hard to see on my lap....Sancho is on the back of the chair. He's being horribly unsociable, as he has his back to you. I apolgize. :)

My best friend and I decided to challenge ourselves to do the same sketch and color challenge at the same time. I've pictured both cards. Isn't it amazing how totally different two cards can turn out?

Anyway, my card was made with DCWV papers. The off-white sparkle paper was embossed with the tiny bubbles Cuttlebug folder, which I think creates the effect of it sparkling like diamonds. Luckily I have this great digi chair stamp from Mme Designs. I printed the chair image first on the shimmer blue and cut it out. I then printed the image again on the glitter blue paper and then cut only the heart pillow out. The cats were stamped black, cut out (yikes were they fun to cut out...not!), and then inked silver. The flowers were white, but I sprayed them with Tatered Angels glacier glimmer mist to transform them to blue.
