Lexy

Lexy is my beautiful 8-year-old yellow labrador retriever. She is a sweet loving companion, who I have had since she was a puppy. My best friend bought me this stamp. Isn't it a perfect match of Lexy? This picture was taken a few years ago....Lexy loves to go outside and get the newspaper for me. and today I was inspired to make a card of her. I designed the card using the following challenges as further inspiration.
CPS - Sketch
Sophisticat - raining cats and dogs
Pile it On - animals
Ooh La La - button, bow, bling
Crafty Creations - anything goes
Charisma - animal magic
AIFactory - anything goes
Cute Daisy May - for boys
CCEE - funny critter
Cricut Cardz - anything goes
Color Throwdown - yoko yellow, garden green/old olive, soft suedechocolate chip

Thanks for stopping by and meeting one of my kids.

Dream

I was in the mood for a different type of vintage card, and was inspired by the sketch and black, white, pick another color challenges at Polka Doodles. I had this Tim Holtz stamp that I thought would make for a kind of dreamy looking card. So....I chose this purply/lavender color paper which was inspired by the colors of some of the cuffs in the Etsy Inspired Shop this week Ponder and Stitch, and just kind of went with it. I flipped the sketch so that I could spell out dream vertically. I cut out the letters using the Cricut Storybook cartridge. I used my Martha Stewart lace doily and branch punches. A few flowers and brads and a ribbon and that was it.

Challenges
Polka Doodles - sketch and black, white, and another color (purple)
Lots to Do - vintage
Die Cut Dreams - black, white, and one color (purple)
Papertake - open
Crafty Creations - anything goes
Creative Card Crew - vintage/aged
Cricut Cardz -anything goes

You all have a great day!

For An Egg-xtraordinary Friend

This card is for my best friend for Easter (Crafty Ann's - something for someone special). Of course, I couldn't just make her a card....those of you who follow my blog, know I try to enter as many challenges as possible, so this card is inspired by several of the new challenges this week. Specifically, I was challenged by Pollycraft's recipe. My fourth paper, if anyone is trying to figure it out is on my bunny (Pile it On-animals) who I paper pieced. Paper piecing is not something I normally do (Raise the Bar), but I think I will be doing more of it. I wanted to stick with pink and green as they are the color scheme for the Cuttlebug Spot. Adding flowers also included it in Secret Crafter. The sketch for this one was inspired by Friday Sketchers. I was trying to figure out how I could include hearts for Totally Gorjuss, and I accomplished that by embossing with a Cuttlebug folder that has hearts in it! I think it's Victoria. Of course, my bunny is holding an egg, for Daring Cardmakers . Then again, there are all of the spring and Easter and pastel challenges out there as Easter is just around the corner. Those challenges are Pink Elephant, Just Scraps, and Colour Create (pastels); Cuttlebug Challenge, Simon Says, Paper Play, C.R.A.F.T, Susie's Sassy, Fussy and Fancy, Townscrappers, Stamping for the Weekend, Ann's Creative nook, and Magical Crafts (Easter); and Charisma (spring). And last but not least, Papertake Weekly which is an open challenge this week.
Thanks for taking a peek...see you later....I'm off to my piano lesson....Kim

Jenny with Easter Egg

Meet Jenny....she is one of Digital Doodlings sweet digi stamps. I decided I would do another Easter/spring card as I should be mailing them out soon...my problem is I prefer creating them than actually posting them. This card was inspired by the OCC Sketch which I combined with the Taylored Expressions sketch. I was also inspired to try the 3-D as described in Drunken Stampers, so I colored Jenny and cut her out and layered her 3 times. I hope I did this right...that is how I understood the directions.
Challenges:

Incy Wincy - easter/spring
Cupcake Craft - food or drink (sorry...but eggs ARE food :))
Die Cuts R Us - stamped image, die cut, ribbon (used nesties)
Cuttlebug Challenge - easter (little eggs are embossed)
Charisma - spring
Paper Play - easter
C.R.A.F.T. - Easter
OCC Sketch - sketch
Daring Cardmakers - easter eggs
Paper Cutz - easter but no bunnies or chicks
Raise the Bar - a style you don't normally do (3-D in 3 layers)
Drunken Stampers - 3-D of an image
Just Scraps - eggs are the new beginning of a baby chick :) - this was inspired by all the new beginnings I see as spring starts and easter is on its way

Thanks for looking, and your comments are always appreciated.

Stamp, Scrap, and Doodle Saturdays Sketch Challenge

WOW! Can you believe it is Saturday already? Well it is, and it is time to play with SSDS's new SKETCH challenge. This week our sponsor is Sunshine Stamps , If you win the draw, you could win 3 digis of your choice. If you haven't seen Sunshine Stamps yet, pop on over to their site and check them out. They are adorable! I used Chirpy for my sketch. Isn't he just the cutest baby chick? I colored him with Martha Stewart markers and my dove blender. I then cut him out and embossed him with my oval and scalloped nesties. For the flowers I cut them using my Cuttlebug dies and then embellished them with a little bling. The leaves are a Martha Stewart punch. I used pop dots to give the flowers different heights for extra dimension. I then added the ribbon and drew a line down the center of each piece with platinum stickles. I also embossed one of the patterned papers with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder, to add even more texture to my card.

Easter Bunny and Hen

WOW! There are sure a lot of Easter/Spring challenges out there right now. It's very difficult not to be inspired to do a few cards. In addition, to the theme, this card was inspired by the sketch at CPS and the color challenge at Just Us Girls. I started by picking out this K&Company paper which had exactly the right colors for the JUGS challenge. I then chose this adorable Easter bunny and hen digi by Bee Crafty and colored him in and shaded around him to make it look sunny. I cut him out using my Lable 9 nesties and layered him on a second one...which were also embossed. I cut out the branch with flowers using the Storybook Cricut cartridge. I added the bow and was done. This was a very simple, quick and easy card to make.

Tear-rific Birthday Hugs - SSDS Challenge

Hurry on over to SSDS for this week's challenge....which is tearing. The sponsor this week is Sew Many Cards, and one lucky person will win 5 DIGI STAMPS! That's right...5! So we hope you will stop on over and check out the other DT's cards, and then make your own tearing project. We'd love to see them.

As you can see, I chose to tear the oval that my image sits on. I used Cooredinations paper which is just perfect for tearing, as it has a color core...not white. I sanded the lilac paper on the left. The stamp I used is a freebie digi from My Grafico. I embossed the lemon colored paper with Cuttlebug's Victoria embossing folder. The sentiment is cut out using Cricut's Plantin Schoolbook, as well as the flower on the bottom left of the card. The leaves are the Martha Stewart branch punch, which I just purchased! The flowers on the bottom right are from my stash...they were white but I colored them to match the color scheme...Below are the other challenges for this card:

Stamp, Scrap, and Doodle - tearing

Rosie D's - spring

A Daring Adventure

Marriage is a daring adventure...I should know, I've been married twice. However, nothing ventured, nothing gained, as they say. Thus the idea behind this engagement card.
This card was inspired by so many challenges...listed later. It was really fun making this card because I would see another challenge and think...I can do that or add that. The ovals were cut out and embossed with my nesties. The lace border is a Martha Stewart Punch and the butterfly is a Paper Shapers. The chipboard "daring" sticker is AmyButler K&Company...AND believe it or not, the four butterfies in the bottom right sector of the card are Urban Rhapsody rub-ons! The stamp is Inkadinkado. And the entire card is made out of one piece of K&Company designer paper, which was then distressed with Versamagic's pink petunia.
OK...on to the challenges...hold on because there are a few of them this time!!

Blog Candy at Pixie Cottage!

There is currently some awesome blog candy up for grabs at The Pixie Cottage. Click here and go check it out.
By the way, you had to share a favorite memory about a child, so I thought I'd share it here too:
When I was a little girl, my Mom couldn't find me and when she did, I was in the bathroom using an eggbeater in the toilet....and what was I beating? PILLS! So, of course my Mom freaked out not knowing whether or not I had taken any of them (I thought they were candy, of course), so off to the hospital I went to have my stomach pumped...UGH!!! These were the days before childproof tops and obviously my Mom didn't know I could stand as high as I could on my tippy toes!

Springtime Collage

Well, since there are so many challenges this week for greens, I thought I would try another green card (still not crazy about them). This time in mostly pastel greens with some kraft and cream thrown in to balance it out. I used the sketch in Stamp for Fun and attempted a collage look, adding two butterflies so it looks like it's in flight, dainty roses, sparkly buttons, green bling, lace, a ribbon, and stickles. You really have to zoom in to appreciate the details on the card. I used a butterfly punch, which has become obsolete in my craft drawer, since I purchased my Cricut. I did not use the circut on this card, but did use the cuttlebug for additional texture in my collage.

Incy Wincy - at least 1/3 green
Kelly Jo Stamp Pad - dark green, light green, cream or white
Little Paper Shop - make something old, like new again (the butterfly punch)
Pink Elephant - spring
Die Cut Dreams - use 2 punches (MS lace doily and butterfly)

For Fun Challenges - green

Pixie Cottage - add some green
Charisma - butterflies

Pals Paper - garden green, celery green, kraft
Paper Play - see double
Fussy and Fancy - green

Vintage Mother's Day Gratitude

This card was inspired by the Vintage challenge at the Cuttlebug Spot. On Friday, I found these flowers for a smoking deal at Michael's and they just screamed vintage to me. When I saw the sketch challenge at Sketch Saturday, I knew that was the layout I wanted to use. I stamped and embossed the image with Tim Holtz embossing powder and then distressed around the edges and toward the image. I used 3 different colors to try and get an "old" look. I added just a tad of distressed blue stickles to her hat band. The layout called for 5 items on top and 5 on bottom. I thought all flowers would be too much, so I did the 3 flowers with 2 matching leaves and then 5 eyelets on the bottom. I embossed the bottom strip using my CB Victoria embossing folder and cut the sentiment out of another piece of designer paper. I thought the end result was perfect for gratitude for a mother who likes antiques and vintage collectibles. It actually reminds me of my Mom, but she passed away 13 years ago, so it would be in memory of her. Thanks for your wonderful challenges that continue to inspire me to make more cards than I could ever send out....lol...I appreciate your comments and the time you spend stopping by to look.

Challenges for Vintage Mother's Day Gratitude Card:

Cupcake Craft - flower power

Cute Daisy May - Mother's Day

Etsy Inspired - 3 Dot's Jewelry (necklaces!) especially "shooting star"

Pink, Black, and White

All Sorts challenge this week is pink, black, and white. I had these pink, black, and white flowers hanging around forever, so it was nice to finally have a chance to use them on something. The button was in my stash. I embossed the black with CB swiss dots, and cut the sentiment from the Stamping Solutions cartridge. I used black and white pens for the extra little dots. Added the two ribbons and was done. Thanks for taking a peek....
Challenges:
Flower Power - Cupcake Craft
Buttons and Flowers - Pixie Dust
Pink, black, and white - All Sorts
Spots and Dots - One Stop Craft
Pink, buttons, and ribbon - Stamp, Scrap, and Doodle

Magical Shamrock

Well, I really did not want to do a St. Patrick's Day card....I'm not Irish, I don't have any cute stamps, I am NOT into green, not for clothing, dectorating or anything....BUT in honor of those who do celebrate St. Patrick's Day (and the fact that there are so many challenges...lol), I have made this card. I decided to have a magical shamrock that provided nectar for hummingbirds. I cut out the shamrock from PDDU and embossed with CB swiss dots and divine swirls folders. The picture does not do justice to the papers, but you get the idea. I still don't like green, but...here it is, and thanks for taking a moment to stop by.

Challenges:

Sketch - Papertake

Monochromatic - Stamping for the Weekend

spots and dots - One Stop Craft

Girl's Birthday Celebration

Well today I bought my first digi stamp from Lexi's Creations. Isn't she fun? I thought she would be perfect for a variety of cards, but since the challenge at Lexi's this week is birthday, I figured I would use her for that. Also, they have a design team call, and keep your fingers crossed, but I'm going to apply. Scary, huh? I would just love to be on a design team for an extended period of time. I love the challenges, and I would love to give comments and inspiration to women around the world. Anyway, back to the card. I used the color challenge at Little Paper Shop and the sketch at Willow Sketchie. I used my cricut to cut the flourish and 3 of the flowers. Cut my ovals with my nesties. Embossed with my cuttlebug divine swirls folder. Distressed everything with ink and used lots of stickles. Thanks for looking...I really appreciate it!

Kitties Celebrating Life

This card was inspired by the purple cat at Fantasy Art of Maigan Lynn, "The Mad Hatted Mermaid" in the Etsy Inspired Challenge. This is a celebrating life card!! I thought it would be fun to color a cat purple, and in staying with the fun, decided to stamp a couple of other fun-loving kitties...one chasing a mouse and the other chasing a bird. Having a threesome lended itself perfectly to the CPS Sketch challenge for this week. I picked out some happy spring colors, distressed my edges with ink, embossed using my CB, and added a few eyelets and my card was completed.

Shabby Chic Springtime Bird

The inspiration behind this card came from several challenges, as well as the fact that I just bought some lace ribbon and was dying to do a "shabby chic" card (even though that's not in any of the challengs this week..lol) The cracked glass challenge over at Cuttlebug motivated me to try this techniqe. So I stamped my image and colored it with watercolor pencils and some stickles. I let this dry overnight and then I covered it with Versamark and generously sprinkled UTEE over it and then melted the UTEE with my heat gun.. I repeated this process 4 times. After the final melting, I let it cool for a few minutes and then I put it in the freezer for about 7 minutes. When I took it out, I gently bent it in several directions so it would crack. I incorporated the OCC sketch into my project by using the lace as the two vertical pieces. I then distressed some little flowers and layered them and added some bling to the center of each one. Put them in 3 of the corners with my big bow in the fourth. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out...what do you think?

Inspiring Challenges:

Crazy 4 - 3 different textures
OCC- sketch
Stamp, Scrap, and Doodle - sparkle and shine
Cupcake Craft - round
Pollycraft - distressing
Papertake - bow and bling
Flourishes Timeless - scallops
Cuttlebug Challenge - cracked glass
Quixotic - leaves (on the patterned paper)

Pals Paper - spring
Paper Play - just because
AiFactory - some blue, a bow, and bling
Daring Cardmakers - aquamarine
Practical Scrappers - chalks and ink

Quick and Easy Owl Card

I don't have much time to play today, but my day feels so imcomplete if I don't craft a little...my therapy! Anyway, a couple of the challenges this week are shaped cards. I don't play with my cricut Wild Card cartridge too much, so I pulled it out and spied the owl. Well, this is the fastest card I ever whipped together. As you can see, nothing fancy, but still kind of cute. The trick to the Wild Card cartridge is knowing what size to cut it out at. For this card, it is

5 1/4 inches. I, of course, still wanted to try and enter a couple of other challenges, thus my choice on patterned papers with swirls, and lilac and aqua colors. Details of challenges are:

Fab 'n Funky - Shaped Card

Polka Doodles - Shaped Card

Just Buggin' - Cricut Card - Wild Card cartridge

Susie's Sassy - Lilac and Aqua

Tuesday Taggers - Swirls and Curls (pattern in paper) - this week's sponsor Crafty Individuals

Crazy 4 - 3 different textures

Lexi's Creations - anything goes

Well it took me longer to post this than to make the card, but that's part of the fun...right?

Thanks for looking....

Sick as a Dog

I found out yesterday that my uncle, my Dad's only brother, had a stroke. I, of course, immediately knew I had to make him a card. My uncle is a fun-loving guy for whom a mushy get-well card just wouldn't work. I love the images on the Paper Pups cricut cart so I decided to cut out this little guy.

The challenge this week at A Spoon Full of Sugar is beads. I didn't want to use pearls...wanted to do something different. So I decided to use these little beads to make the pup's comforter. Gives a different look and another texture. The layout is based on Little Paper Shop's sketch. DP is K&Company....embossing folder is CB herringbone.

This card was inspired by all of the following challenges.

Papertake - buttons, bows, brads, or bling

Tuesday Taggers - swirls and curls -- Crafty Individuals is the sponsor this week

Cuddle Cat

A special thank you and credit go to Suze at Stamp in Style and Cut it Cute who designed and then was generous enough to give me this free digi image. Turned out to be my first (came right before 4 others arrived today). So I am trying a couple of new techniques....one being using a digi image and the second was trying to mask, although I sense I screwed this one up....still turned out cute, I think, but I am pretty sure I did not mask properly...need to research this one instead if just running off and trying it by myself...lol..

Anyway, the design of the card was inspired by the sketch at Papertake Weekly. I used K&Company paper and Cooredinations, which I embossed and then sanded. I colored my image with shimmer chalks using a dove blender. Added a pearl, some stickles, and a couple of bows.

Card was inspired by all of the following challenges:

A Spoon Full of Sugar - distress, pearl, glitter

Crafty Creations - cut it out and pop it up

Just Buggin' - dry embossing

Crafty Ann's - new product

C.R.A.F.T. - ribbons and sparkle
