Shimmering Lilies

I was challenged by Stamp, Scrap, and Doodle to create a card that sparkles and shines. So I got out some DCWV glitter paper, Canson Effects gold shimmer paper, and my gold dust embossing powder. I embossed my image and then colored it with Pearl Ex shimmer powders. Using the sketch from Our Creative Corner, I positioned my papers and added two ribbons, 3 bling, and a chipboard glittered sticker flourish. This card is also being entered in the following challenges that were the inspiration behind the additional features of this card.

Feminine Birthday Wishes

This card was inspired by several challenges. However, my two starting points were the sketch at Crazy 4 and the challenge at Paper Cutz which had the following components: a feminine birthday card with wings and colors of pink, green, white, and lavender or blue...phew! Isn't that some challenge? Well, I think I pulled it off! But of course, two challenges is never enough for me, so I had to add some ribbon, embossing, a button, a little faux stitching, etc. so that I could enter the other challenges listed below.

Additonal Challenges:

Incy Wincy - touchy feely

Sophisticat and Just Buggin - embossing

Crafty Creations - cut it out and pop it up

Your Next Stamp - spring colors with stamp

C.R.A.F.T. - ribbon and sparkle

Crafty Catz - fancy edge and a ribbon

Raise the Bar - 3 of something (3 eyelets)

Stamp Something - designer paper, button, ribbon

Lexi's Creations - anything goes

Thanks for stopping by today. Your challenges inspire me, and I appreciate your comments on my subsequent creations.

Mother's Day Easel Card

The decision to make my second easel card was inspired by Crafty Ann's challenge to try a new technique or one that you haven't done as often as you would like. I have only made one other easel card, but I've been wanting to make another one...just have not been energetic enough to do one. But with a challenge...well there was all I needed. The layout was inspired by The Pixie Cottage's sketch challenge. The colors of pink/white, brown, and olive was inspired by Color Throwdown. These colors make me lean toward vintage and distressing, so the card evolved from there. I used my new script Cuttlebug folder, nesties, and the Home Accents cricut cartridge for the leaves. Embellishments included flowers, stickles, and pearls. The list of all challenges that inspired me to create this card are listed below.

Crafty Ann's - technique not used as often as I would like
The Pixie Cottage - sketch
Color Throwdown - brown, pink/white, olive
Incy Wincy - touchy feely
Sophisticat - embossing
A Spoon Full of Sugar - distress, pearls, glitter
Flourishes Timeless - flowers
Just Buggin' - dry embossing
Simon Says - vintage with flowers
Cute Card Thursday - ribbon
paper Play - Mother's Day
C.R.A.F.T. - ribbon and sparkle
Lexi's Creations - anything goes
Estsy Inspired - October Rose Quartz Pendant from The Enchanted Beehive
Secret Crafter
- Mother's Day
Magical Crafts - for Mum
Practical Scrappers - stamps
Raise the Bar - Three's Company (3 pearls)
Totally Gorguss - flowers
Flutter By Wednesday - open with butterflies

Thanks for looking.

On Wednesday's I volunteer at an animal shelter. We have many wonderful dogs and cats there who are all looking for homes. Yesterday when I finished up my duties, I got home and really wanted to make a little St. Patrick's Day card dedicated to the dogs, who are in my prayers to be "Lucky" and get adopted soon. I used Mojo Monday's sketch as my starting point, and my trusty Cricut for my cuts. The dog is from Animal Kingdom, the hat from PDDU, and the shamrock and "Lucky" from Stamping Solutions. I inked up my papers, stickled my shamrock, and added a ribbon. When I was finished, the card was eligible for the following challenges:

Mojo Monday - sketch

C.R.A.F.T. - ribbon and sparkles

Lexi's Creations - anything goes

Crafty Creations - cut it out and pop it up

Cricut Cardz - St. Patrick's Day

Flourishes Timely - all about me (dogs!)

Paper Sundaes - distress

Thank you to The Cuttlebug Spot for teaching me a new technique. Today I learned how to double emboss using my CB and nestabilities. It is such a great, clean look. Flutter Love

I think this would make a really nice Mother's Day card...mother and baby butterfly...but unfortunatley my Mom passed away 11 years ok...I'll find someone special in my life to give it to on Mother's Day, though. I used the butterflies from Home Accents and colored them with some shimmer chalks and accented them with stickles. Created my borders with a MS puncH. Added a little embossing with my trusty CB and distressed my papers. I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Incy Wincy - touchy feely
Sophisticat - embossing
Creative Belli - butterflies
Pixie Cottage - love
Humble Pie - only one type of embellishment (ribbon)

Best Wishes - Springtime

OK...I have to be honest....I really, really, really want to win the challenge at C.R.A.F.T. this week. The winner gets the cutest stamp I have ever seen. You have to go on over there and check it out! I am 48 years old, and am just now learning to play the piano, so of course, I saw the stamp and fell in love! That being said, I took a stab at another take on their sketch challenge. I also decided to enter the two challenges for stitching (Crafty Creations and Corrosive Challenge)...thank goodness they allow faux stitching...because I can barely use a needle and thread! Sewing machine? What's that? So anyway, I used my paper piercer and a white doodle pen...I obviously need more practice at this kind of stiching, too...but at least I tried. Stitching was done on the nestabilities Labels 9. CB folder used is birds and swirls. Cricut was used for the leaves and flowers were in my stash. Martha Stewart border punch and Inkadinkado stamp. Other challenges for this card are:

Die Cuts R Us - no designer paper

Incy Wincy - border punch

Your Next Stamp - spring colors

Cute Card Thursday - metal (two square brads)

Thanks for looking....

Just a Little Note...

This was a super easy card to make, and I really liked how it turned out. I started with the sketch at Posh Designs as inspiration, and took on the music challenge at Crafty Ann's and the use one paper challenge at ABC Challenge. With those decisions made, I then looked at my new cricut cartridge, Stamping Solutions, and chose the guitar from that and then the music notes from Joys of the Season. I used my Martha Stewart border punch (Incy Wincy), stamped my sentiment (Raise the Bar), added a little platinum stickles to my music notes, and I was done...took less than 30 minutes to make! Simple, simple, simple (Cupcake Craft and Pals Paper). I wish all my cards would be so easy to make...or do I???

Vintage Birthday

Well I decided to tackle the sketch challenge over at Lili of the Valley for this card. I wanted to design a vintage birthday card and used papers from DCWV (glittery paper) and K and Company. I stamped my sentiment (don't know brand) and then stamped some Tim Holtz flourishes to tie in with my flourish cut from the Home Decor Cricut cart. I cut out my sentiment using my oval nesties and layered that on the scalloped oval nestie. I added buttons to help me meet the Pick 3 challenge and eyelets for the centers of my flowers for the Cute Card Thursday challenge. I chose sheer flowers to help with the vintage look and added ribbon to follow my take on the sketch.

Here are the challenges this card is being entered into and links to their fabulous sites:

Stamping Vacation - Pick 3 (actually 5!) - 3 of same type of embellishments; blues and browns,

birthday, button, paper with glitter

Tuesday Taggers - time (vintage)

Cute Card Thursday - metal mania (eyelets)

All Sorts - 3, 2, 1 - 3 flowers, 2 buttons, 1 color of ribbon

Thanks for taking a peek...

Black and White for You

This was a very simple, quick, and easy card to make. I followed the sketch for C.R.A.F.T. this week, and the challenge of black and white over at Just Buggin'. I stamped the image with an Inkadinkado stamp. I did a little embossing with my Cuttlebug swiss dots and script folders. Cut out the sentiment and flowers with Cricut cart Stamping Solutions. Added a touch of bling and brads and was done. Other challenges entered are:

Pals Paper and Cupcake Craft - keep it simple

Raise the Bar - I will NEVER give up my Cuttlebug!

Think Spring!

Wow! I finally created a card in which every piece of paper on the card is a Cricut cut! Yippee!! Yesterday was a beautiful springy day, and last night I was watching the Westminster Dog Show when this card just popped into my head. I am just loving this new Stamping Solutions cartridge! It has so many great cuts! The butterflies, owl, and flowers are from it. The sun, tree, dog, and birds are from Paper Pups. The grass is cut from PDDU. I did some inking, stickling, and embossing with my Cuttlebug.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Fussy and Fancy - dazzle us

Creative Belli - butterflies

Fab 'n' Funky - childish

Pile it On - flowers

Let me know what you think...thanks for dropping in and looking!

Get Well Soon - Spring

Today I wanted to make a card that would be eligible to submit to several challenges. I started with the sketch at Pals Paper, which is actually a very simple sketch (Cupcake Craft). I then decided that I wanted to take on the challenge at Die Cut Dreams with 3 patterned papers, 2 different ribbons (ribbons I never used before--Our Creative Corner), 2 flowers (Practical Scrappers and Pile it On), and gems. I decided to choose my papers with one being flowered, one striped (Lexi's Creations), and one checked/plaid (Papertake Weekly and My Grafico). Ribbon also is the challenge at Pink Elephant. Next I decided to make this a get well card (Creative Card Crew) and I wanted it to look springy (A Spoon Full of Sugar) I also wanted to use my new Inkadinkado stamp set that I got for Valentine's Day. I distressed the papers around my image using Tim Holtz distress inks (Little Paper Shop). I used a Martha Stewart border punch (Incy Wincy), and my nesties oval (Humble Pie) and a Get Well Sentiment from the cricut cartridge Beyond Birthdays. I am also entering this into the 3,2,1 challenge at All Sorts (3 patterned papers, 2 flowers, and 1 stamped image), as well as Crazy 4 (red)
Thanks for stopping by. I love to hear your comments!

I just got the Stamping Solutions Circut cart and had to try it out. It really has some awesome cuts...both shapes and sentiments. I followed the CPS Sketch (flipped it). I embossed most of the papers using my Cuttlebug...I've only had my CB a couple of months, but I would never give it up (Raise the Bar) because the added texture to cards and layouts is just so beautiful and gives the project so much more character. All Sorts had a fun challenge of 3, 2, 1...I used 3 flowers, 2 dragonflies, and 1 sentiment. My 3 flowers also placed me in the Practical Scrappers, Pile it On, and Polka Doodles flower challenges. The 2 brads in the flowers places me in another Practical Scrappers brad challenge.

Love Owlways

I purchased a stamp set with the owl the other day and of course had to try it out immediately! I also just received my new leafy branch Cuttlebug embossing folder in the mail...and....of course had to try IT out right away as well. I really have to stop buying so's just so much fun, though! OK...back to the card. The play on words just sort of popped into my head as I was stamping the owl. I thought I would start my card using the sketch from Our Creative Corner. My next step was choosing colors, so I tackled the black, white, and red challenge over at Little Paper Shop. The rest of the challenges are listed below. I cut the white border with my MS punch. I then embossed the red with the leafy branch. The ovals are nesties. The "love" is cut from Home Accents and the "owlways" from Storybook. I topped the card off with a ribbon and some diamond stickles.

Here are the challenges I entered this in:

Our Creative Corner - sketch
Stamping Vacation - Pick 3 (black, white, with red; black card base with black ink; stamped image with eyes)
Incy Wincy - red with black
Double Dutch and Creative Card Crew and Lili of the Valley and Crazy 4 - valentine
Little Paper Shop - red, black, white
Pink Elephant - mushy valentine
Pile it On and Ooh La La and Tuesday Taggers and Pixie Cottage and Charisma and Paper Play and CRAFT - love

Soothing Sympathy

This card was inspired by many elements. First, I loved the sketch for Sketch Saturday this week. So that was my starting point. Next, I purchased a new Martha Stewart stamp (the bird) and border punch so I, of course, wanted to use these! That met the challenge requirements for the ABC Challenge (N is for New). I colored my bird with watercolor pencils and did a second one so I could pop it and give my card some extra dimension. My bird has wings, the challenge at Crafty Creations this week. I really wanted to do the Distressed with Buttons and a Bow over at All Sorts. I used Tim Holtz distressed inks around my edges. I used the cricut cartridge Graphically Speaking for my flower and cut the flourishes with my Cuttlebug. I used some soothing K&Company patterned papers and a sheer ribbon for my bow (ribbon for Creative Belli). Topped my flower with a gold button and the end creation could really be used for many ocassions, but I will probably use it as a sympathy card.

Thanks for taking a peek at my latest creation...and thanks for all of the great challenges which inspire me.

Winter Wonderland Bunny

My inspiration for this card is the Paper Maniac sketch challenge and The BBTB2 challenge to use the rabbit from Winter Wonderland. I don't have that cartridge yet, but I was at a crop yesterday and the hostess had it! So I put together a quick little Easter card. The scalloped ovals are nestabilities. The lavender punch is my new Martha Stewart lace doily border punch, which enables me to enter the ABC Challenge N is for New. There are also some buttons and a tiny bow which is the challenge this week for All Sorts. I also encompassed some spot and dots in one of my patterned papers for the Cute Card Thursday challenge.

Valentine with Clear Heart

This card is a compilation of new techniques for me. It started with the fact that a challenge this week is for paper piecing. I have never done this before, and I'm hoping I did it right. I took the stamp of the three hearts and pieced it together using the two different card stocks. I then cut the entire image out so it would be 3-d on my card. The next technique I tried was sanding my embossed image. I embossed the nestabilities with the cuttlebug divine swirls folder and then sanded it. I used cooredinations cardstock for this. Finally, I embossed plastic with the cuttlebug heart. I had seen someone else do this technique earlier this week and I was so excited to try it. The plastic really embosses well! This card meets the following challenges:

Posh Designs - sketch
My Grafico - metal
Lili of the Valley and Just Buggin' - valentine
Fab 'n' Funky - emboss
Paper Play and and Craft and Charisma and Papertake - love
Polka Doodles - paper piecing

Teddy Bear Valentine

OK...this may be the last Valentine's Day card...well maybe

This card was inspired by the sketch challenge at A Spoon Full of Sugar and the teddy bear challenge at Tuesday Taggers. The rest of the challenges listed mostly have to do with love, hearts, and valentine's, and this card definitely fits those.

This design was fun to make as I got to use alot of my cricut and cuttlebug. Cricut cartridges used were Noel for the bear and All Mixed Up, George, and Accent Essentials for the 3 different hearts. I also used 3 different Cuttlebug embossing folders, Swiss Dots, Divine Swirls, and Diamond Plate (a new one!). Nesties used were the scalloped oval for the sentiment and Labels 9 for beneath my bear. I had to play around with the papers. I finally decided on some K&Company designer paper because it has the swirl of chocolate in it. I added a touch of ribbon, a little shimmer chalk on one of the hearts, and a heart brad for Teddy, and the result is what you now see.

Thank you beary much for looking :)

All Sorts DT Call

I would really like to be part of a design team. I don't think I have the abilities to qualify, but I figure I have nothing to lose in trying. All Sorts Challenge Blog is having a call, and I decided to make this card and submit it. The challenge is to follow a sketch, and I have tried very hard to keep my card true to the sketch. I have used 3 patterned papers from my scraps drawer and a piece of metallic gold. The first paper layer is embossed using the Cuttlebug and the Victoria embossing folder. The stamp is a rubber stampede stamp which I embossed with gold and then colored with chalks and a dove blender. The flowers are cut with Cricut's Storybook cartridge. I've added a little stickles and some inking and here is my finished product.

Thanks for taking the time to consider me....

Vintage Valentine #2

Here's another take on a vintage valentine. This time I used Mojo Monday's sketch for this week and then built it using some of the other challenges listed below. I wanted to use this heart stamp because this valentine is for someone very special. I embossed it with Tim Holtz vintage photo embossing powder and then outlined the scalloped circle with vintage photo distress stickles. There is an oval under the scalloped oval in the polka dot paper, but it is difficult to see in this picture. The "lace" is actually a plastic lace runner that I cut and colored with sepia color dye ink and dried with the heat gun. I embossed the pink patterned paper with Cuttlebug swiss dots to add a little texture. The flowers are from my stash as are the bling. I love Stamping Vacation's Pick 3, so check out the details is really a fun challenge!

Challenges entered for this card:

My Grafico and Crafty Ann's- use metal (2 brads)
Stamping Vacation - Pick 3 - 2 diecuts (oval is a punch and scalloped oval is a nestie); image with potential for growth ( grows); 3 different patterned papers (pink is a pattern...not a solid)
